A Look Around: My Bulletin Board

I’ve had a bulletin board since I was quite young, starting when I moved into my first real house with my mom at age 11. My mom bought me a plain bulletin board, which I then painted the wood edge bright grape purple to match the paint I chose for my walls. Then I pinned up all sorts of photos, postcards, and other items mostly from travel or the states we lived in. I also put up some childhood things I enjoyed like pogs or keychains.

Since then I have had two similar bulletin boards. After a while, the cork board itself can get a little worn out, and so I replaced them and painted them again to match my room (after the grape color it was a lime green). A few years ago I got a new one when we moved, which I painted once more (this time gray), and added some of my newest favorite photos and other items. As last year was ending, I realized all the little things I have collected since that I wanted to put up, so my resolution was to take everything off and re-do the bulletin board.

Starting first with my new calendar, I added postcards, a few photos, keychains, pins, and other doodads to the board. I was happy to use the Disney Figural Keychains I have collected as well as the postcards I got when I was at Disney World. I also liked figuring out how to hang up some pins I got at the Disney Parks. One of my favorites parts that I kept up were a set of London postcards I bought at the Tower of London when I was studying abroad. On the string I put them on, I also placed some more pins of different places I have seen during some recent trips.

The finished bulletin board seemed to have a Disney-heavy look to it, but since this is near my desk, it acts as good inspiration for drawings and other creative projects. What I like about having a bulletin board is that it allows you to easily change it up whenever you want, but most of all it gives a space for those little things that might end up in a box or drawer. It also allows you to remember random moments and display a bunch of your favorite things all in one place. It can really show off your likes, interests, and overall personality. Here is a look around!
