Sriracha Triscuit Taste Test

I wouldn’t say I am a Sriracha expert, but I do like it on certain things. My mom and I make a chickpea curry (The Pioneer Woman’s recipe!) almost every week, which we add plenty of Sriracha to. I also think it is good drizzled on some sandwiches or pizza, but I am in no way super passionate about Sriracha, like many appear to be.

The only Sriracha flavored snack I have tried were Trader Joe’s Sriracha Lattice Cut Potato Chips, which I really loved. My mom found them too spicy, but I thought they were amazing, and left my lips with a wonderful tingle.

So when I saw these Limited Edition Sriracha Triscuits, I thought they may be something I would like. Other than the original Triscuit, I have only tried one of the brown rice flavors they released not too long ago, as well as another limited edition flavor, Cranberry and Sage (which I got a box of the last two holidays in a row because I liked them so much). Triscuits aren’t my favorite thing in the world, but every so often I get a craving for them. On their commercials and boxes these days, they show a lot of somewhat fancy recipes or topping ideas for the crackers, but I always keep it simple with a slice of cheese or a spread of yogurt dip.

What first attracted me to this snack, was the box design. It really is quite attractive, especially how the word “Sriracha” is actually written in the sauce. The design style really stands out from the rest of the Triscuit boxes.

Opening the box and smelling the crackers, they mostly smelled like the wheat of a Triscuit. There was a slightly tangy smell, but nothing too overpowering. If I was blindly sniffing these, I’m not sure I would have recognized that they were Sriracha.

When I tasted the cracker though, I instantly liked it. The flavor wasn’t crazily overpowering or spicy, but still had that slight tingle and familiar Sriracha kick. I wasn’t sure the wheat flavor of the Triscuit would work with the Sririacha flavor, but once I started to chew, it really worked for me. There is a nice balance of spicy and sweet, with the chili and garlic flavors coming out as you chew.

You can see from the images that some of the crackers had more flavor seasoning on it then others, with some being quite a bright red. So the crackers that were brighter red had more of a flavorful kick than the ones that had less seasoning.

If you aren’t much of a Triscuit fan, these probably won’t impress you, but I was really fond of these. If they were not limited edition, I would probably chose them anytime I was in the mood for Triscuits. I may try to grab another box before they are gone!
