I did a “little finds” haul a while ago, which I reallly enjoyed putting together. My whole life I have always been into tiny things to collect, and these lists are filled with some of my favorite small items, alongside a few good deals in there too. Here is what I have picked up over the last couple of months!
Disney Princess Mystery Minis: $5.95-$8.90
Purchased at Hot Topic, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, or Walgreens
I shared some Funko Mystery Minis in my last Little Finds Haul and also talked about this Disney Princess series in my Harry Potter Mystery Minis unboxing. These little princesses and sidekicks are one of my favorite things that came out this past year and as my collection started and slowly grew, I wanted to get as many different ones as I could. Since these are Mystery Minis though, the task of getting different ones when you only buy one or two at a time can be a bit tedious. Since I didn’t want to get duplicates and waste money, I relied on weight, but mostly intuition and hope, when choosing a box.
I would say the four of these that I recently added to my collection are “exclusives”. Merida and Jasmine are in the non-exclusive regular set, but it took me many months to actually find that version out in stores. I got Jasmine at Barnes and Noble (she was quite heavy with all that hair!) and Merida at Hot Topic (she was SUPER heavy with all that hair!).
Rapunzel and Pascal were Walgreens exclusives, which also took a very long time to find in stores. I sort of gave up, until I finally spotted them towards the end of summer. The problem was that there wasn’t really a solid way to guess (and the store randomly stacks them in a line) and at this point I had a large portion of the princesses. I didn’t have many sidekicks at this point though, so I bought a couple lighter boxes and ended up with Flounder (Ariel’s sidekick) and Olaf (Anna’s sidekick). I went back a few days later and based on the odds and knowing that there were three sidekicks per full set of boxes, felt I had a chance of getting Pascal (Rapunzel’s sidekick). I chose the final light box available and got…Pascal! I was so excited, and also thrilled to get a 1/72 chance character. I went to another Walgreens across town, and as I lifted the boxes around, I felt confident that the second one I picked up was Rapunzel. I purchased it and my guess was correct! Rapunzel is one of my top favorite Disney characters, so my successful find might be my favorite of the ones I managed to collect.
Disney Villains Mystery Minis: $8.90
Purchased at Hot Topic, but received 1/2 off with Hot Cash
With the Princess Mystery Minis out, naturally you have to have the villains! I was excited for this series to come out, but knew I would have to be sticking to my “two or three” rule. Since I didn’t have any, I ended up ordering them online because I figured I would have pretty good luck getting two different ones. I ended up with a Hot Topic exclusive Maleficent Dragon and Cruella de Vil, two of the ones I had my eye on most! The dragon is especially detailed and such a cool figure. It is a pretty good value for your money too, because compared to some of the characters (especially the sidekicks) it is quite large. Cruella, to me a underrated villain, also has some great details, like her jewelry and black and white hair. So feeling quite lucky with the two I randomly got, I feel pretty content with my collection from this series.
Mystery Minis for Disney’s upcoming film Moana (one of the movies I am most looking forward to…along with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) are arriving soon, so I hope to add at least two to my collection!
Disney Villain Series 2 Figural Keychains: $6.90
Purchased at Hot Topic
Disney’s The Emperor’s New Groove is one of my favorite movies of all time, so when I saw that the latest figural keychains coming out featured the villain from that film, Yzma, I knew I had to try to find her. I ended up having $5 in rewards, so I used that to buy my first “guess”. I stood around for about 10 minutes attempting to discreetly feel the bags (there is also a piece of cardboard to prevent feeling around) and make the best guess I could. Hoping to not waste money on a character I wasn’t interested in, I went with the bag that felt pretty small and flat compared to the others. I also felt a small spike on one side, hoping that was one of the feather spikes on the collar of her outfit. I was nervous, but opened the bag to find little Yzma looking back at me! With my guess correct, I went back and grabbed the other bag I felt confident was Yzma. This way I could keep one my bulletin board (where it could stay clean and in good condition) and use the other on my keys. She is my new companion!
Emperor’s New Groove Pins: $1.99 or 2 for $3
Purchased at Hot Topic
As I went back to buy my second Yzma figural keychain, I started to pick through the pins and spotted one after another of The Emperor’s New Groove pins! As someone who keeps an eye out for items from this movie but so rarely finds any, this was a great day for me. A few years ago I found two pins at Hot Topic and thought that was exciting enough. I especially like the “lama face” pin, because it shows such a perfect Kuzco llama face.
Kuzco “No Touchy” Sticker: $2.99
Purchased at Hot Topic
I was on a roll finding The Emperor’s New Groove items because a friend spotted this sticker for me. I put this on my laptop cover (it is a clear case) to add a bit more color and personality. Plus, the “no touchy” works pretty well on a laptop to void off any unwanted viewers. To find this much merchandise around one of my favorite movies was pretty cool. Maybe the movie has a bigger following than I think? I like to think it is finally getting the recognition it rightfully deserves.
Sweet Cranberry Rose Lotion and Body Spray: 3 for $12
Purchased at Bath & Body Works
I am a big fan of the scent (and taste!) of cranberry as well as rose (I have been hoping for a while to try The Body Shop’s British Rose scent!), so combining the two scents seemed like it would be something I would like. I picked up a few of the mini versions, so I would be able to sample it. The bottle says that the scent is a blend of cranberry nectar, pear leaves, and rose petals. My first thought was that the mixture was a bit stronger than I anticipated. I think the cranberry is more noticeable than the rose, and probably wouldn’t recognize rose is in there if I didn’t know. That being said, I think there is a nice fruity and flowery scent overall in the notes of the mixture. I would buy it again, and have mostly enjoyed using the spray on my pillow before I go to sleep, which has been really sweet and calming.
Pumpkin Cranberry Cider Hand Sanitizer: $1.75 (5 for $6)
Purchased at Bath & Body Works
As much as I enjoy tasting, eating, and smelling pumpkin-y treats, I’m not crazy about putting it on my body. Most of the pumpkin Bath & Body Works lotions and body creams just aren’t for me (except for the cinnamon pumpkin), so I stick to trying some of those scents in their hand sanitizers. I was pleased to see this pumpkin cranberry cider mix as something a little different. I was intrigued about the “cider” aspect, and wondered if it would be noticeable. Although it is just a hand sanitizer, I feel like I can smell each part. I really like this mixture of scents, and wish they would have offered this in a body cream!
Choker Necklaces: Gold $8.50, Velvet $6.50
Gold purchased online through ASOS and Velvet purchased at Maurices
I did a post about how I’m a bit obsessed with choker necklaces as of late and have added two more to my collection since. I like these because again they are quite basic and go with pretty much anything. The gold has a small square at the front for a little decoration and the velvet is nice and soft. Both can tighten quite close to the neck as well, which is a plus.
Monki Hair Pins: $14, but on sale for for $3.50
Purchased online through ASOS
Even though I have been into choker necklaces, I’ve never been overly into wearing jewelry or accessories. I pretty much stick to stud earrings as my main accessory and a few necklaces. Although I own a few basics, I just find that rings and bracelets agitate me and I find myself fiddling on them or removing them whenever I do wear them. When I was a young girl though, I had a huge collection of headbands and wore one almost every day. As I grew older, I started to get headaches wearing them, and stopped using them.
After my headband fad, after a few years I took on a new accessory; hair pins! I wore one every day, until I got a hair cut and styled it a bit differently. I got rid of most of my hair pins because they got pretty worn out with paint chipping or rusting, but have been getting back into them for the past year. Pretty, but affordable, hair pins can be a little hard to find, so I was excited to find this set. The faux pearls and white crystals are a unique mixture, and they almost glisten with rainbow colors in the light. I liked that instead of traditional clear crystals, they were white crystals, which really make them stand out.
Carmex Comfort Care Lip Balms: $1.99, but on sale 2 for $3
Purchased at Walgreens
I will forever say that Carmex is the one “beauty” product I would keep if I could only have one, because I have used it since I was a little girl. When I was young, I had very red/chapped lips and would bite the top of my lip with my bottom lip, causing a red line above my lip. My mom bought me a jar of Carmex, and I instantly felt better and soon my red line went away. I have used it since and am always interested in trying new flavors or products from Carmex. These new Comfort Care lip balms really excited me, and I was able to find the Mixed Berry and Sugar Plum flavors to try (there is also apparently a watermelon as well). I like the texture and consistency of the balm, and it stays on longer than many balms I have owned. The consistency is smooth and leaves a small sheen on the lips. The scent is also great, and doesn’t smell like traditional Carmex at all. I especially like the sugar plum scent and would definitely purchase these again. Plus, they are a great price!
